The volcano fields are the result of thousands of years of volcanic activity, recognised as the largest highly acidic crater lake in the world, also the site of a labour-intensive sulphur mining operation. According to National Geographic, the blue fire is sparked by sulphuric gas that bursts from fractures at temperatures up to 600 °C. The flames can reach five meters (16 feet) in height; some of the gas condenses to liquid and remains lit.

The tour to mount ijen and blue flame from banyuwangi commence at 12.30- 1 a.m, while pick up from Bali will be earlier around 2-5pm start depending on your location. Please be prepared as the designated pickup time may vary. You will be informed one day ahead to departure, our driver will help you to get a medical certificate without extra cost.

At 12.30 am onward, the tour will start the pick up from your Banyuwangi accommodation (ensure medical certificate on hand). After around one hour later, you will reach the entrance to Paltuding. The trek to Mount Ijen will be undertaken on foot from that point, encompassing a distance of approximately 3.5 kilometres one-way. Participants will get a concise safety briefing from a guided local English-speaking prior to reaching the summit of Ijen crater.

At the Ijen volcano, tourists may witness the awe-inspiring dawn, the vivid green acid lake, the sulphuric crater dome with its yellowish tint, and the captivating blue flame. Nevertheless, as the blue flames are only seen during nighttime, it is necessary to go to the peak and descend into the lower regions of the volcano prior to dawn. During this tour, you will get the opportunity to witness the local miners as they engage in the meticulous extraction of sulphur from the crater's depths as their livelihood.

At 6 pm, we will begin our descent down to the parking lot and prepare to depart Mount Ijen, the transfer included. By the time of 9 pm, you should be reach to your accommodation where the tour will be conclude in the banyuwangi.

IMPORTANT FROM BALI:
You will be collected from your hotel in Bali by our driver. Drive to the Gilimanuk (Bali) port and then cross by ferry independently. Upon your arrival at Ketapang port in Java, another driver will greet you and proceeding to drive to gathering point first while you can take a short rest, and help you to get a health certificate before the start of the Ijen. The hike to Ijen will commence between 12.30 to 1 pm. The tour end will at banyuwangi (no return to Bali)
