Description

Fly to North Annapurna Base Camp at 4,190m elevation. Touch down on the historic Maurice Herzog route for rare views of Annapurna I. Experience the sheer power of the 10th highest peak from its base.
Your North Annapurna Base Camp begins with a private, comfortable transfer from your hotel to Pokhara Airport, where the anticipation of the Himalayas builds. Here, you will board a modern AS350 B3e helicopter (Airbus H125), a machine legendary in the aviation world for its superior performance in high-altitude mountain environments. As the rotors spin up, you will lift off from the humid valley floor, leaving the city behind for the pristine air of the high Himalayas.

The flight path itself is a visual masterpiece. As you soar northward, watch the landscape transform from lush subtropical forests to rugged alpine terrain. To your left, the massive bulk of Dhaulagiri (8,167m) dominates the skyline, while Nilgiri Central and North stand like sentinels guarding the gorge. However, the true highlight lies ahead: the elusive North Annapurna Base Camp (North ABC). Unlike the crowded Sanctuary on the south side, this remote plateau offers a raw, untouched wilderness experience tied to mountaineering history, it is the very site of the historic Maurice Herzog route, where Annapurna I was first climbed in 1950.

Your pilot will execute a precision landing at approximately 4,190 meters (13,746 ft) on the glacial moraine. Stepping out of the helicopter, you are immediately greeted by the sheer, terrifying beauty of the Annapurna I North Face, a vertical wall of rock and ice rising nearly 4,000 meters straight up from where you stand. You will have 15 to 20 minutes of ground time, strictly regulated for safety, to breathe in the thin air, capture incredible photographs of the glacial basin, and witness the silence of the high mountains.

On the return leg, the adventure continues with an aerial detour over the stunning Panchakunda Lakes (Narchyang Lakes). These hidden glacial lakes, often frozen or gleaming with a deep turquoise hue, are nestled secretly among the crags and are nearly impossible to see without a helicopter. The view of these pristine waters against the stark white snow offers a contrast perfect for high-altitude photography.

As you descend back towards Pokhara, take a final look at the sprawling glaciers and the deep river valleys below. You will touch down at the airport with memories of a landscape few ever see, followed by a seamless transfer back to your hotel, completing an exclusive journey to the heart of the Annapurna massif.
