Description
Explore Delft on a private food and drink tour. Taste 6 Dutch specialties, visit a 17th-century windmill, and enjoy a drink at the oldest bar in the city.
You begin your tour on the market square, right in the middle of the city center. Hear stories about what you can see here and about the city's history. If it is a market day, the first food stop will be right in the middle of the square.
Visit the oldest chemist of the Netherlands, a store from 1759. You'll take some old Dutch medicine, good for the stomach! The chemist will tell you about it.
The next stop is the old butter house. They don't sell butter anymore, but you will try something with butter there. Poffertjes! Famous little Dutch pancakes.
On your way to the next stop, pass by some of Delft's most interesting highlights. Hear stories about the meat hall, the old beer brewing industry, and Delft's leaning tower.
We stop at a little cheese store from 1901, right next to the Old Church. Of course, you'll taste some Dutch cheese, but they'll also give you something more unexpected: a cheese bonbon.
Next, visit a windmill from the 17th century: Molen De Roos. This is a wheat grinding windmill that still grinds its own wheat. Hear about the windmill, taste some of the good stuff they make, and (if you want) go up a few stairs to see how the windmill actually works.
Then you'll make your way toward your next stop, a fish store. Here, you can choose if you want to finally eat the Dutch pickled herring. Don't worry if that doesn't appeal to you though, there is also something that is easier to love.
Time for a snack with a drink drink. The next stop is the oldest bar of Delft, from 1652. A great place to have some bitterballen paired with Dutch liquor: Jenever. If you don't drink alcohol, you can choose another drink.
The final stop will be at Stads-koffyhuis, a famous coffee and lunch place in Delft. They're located in a super pretty location and they're most famous for their Dutch pancakes and apple pie. It is up to you.
