The National Kiwi Hatchery Tour is a special opportunity to gain insight into and view this highly regarded conservation center. From humble beginnings in 1995, the team has hatched, raised and released over 2,100 kiwi back into the wild, making The National Kiwi Hatchery the most successful in the world. Recently redeveloped with the visitor experience in mind, the hatchery boasts special viewing opportunities and is hosted by kiwi expert guides who ensure guests leave fully informed and all questions answered.
Learn all about New Zealand’s intriguing national icon and the efforts of the kiwi husbandry team, see and discover what it takes to hatch and rear chicks. Stand in a human-sized kiwi burrow, sit in a giant kiwi egg, and see real kiwi in the nocturnal enclosure.

• The National Kiwi Hatchery is located at Rainbow Springs Nature Park, just 10 minutes north of Rotorua city centre
• The #1 city bus departs regularly from Rotorua CBD and stops right outside Rainbow Springs
• There is a free carpark onsite
• National Kiwi Hatchery Tours depart on the hour every day from 9 Am to 1 Pm. From October, Tours depart 10 Am to 3 Pm hourly; your booking will be confirmed on the next available tour.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
