Description

Two guides lead a local-style route linking stalls where residents actually snack: early-morning burek, midday grills, traditional spirits, and centuries-old dessert recipes.
Two guides, one local and one international, lead you along a truly local route, linking the stalls and family-run spots where Skopje residents actually snack. We start early with still-warm burek from a neighborhood bakery, talk dough, fillings, and why Macedonians pair it with drinkable yogurt, then slip through market alleys to discover the colors of the season: vegetables, spices, fruits, maybe some honey too. Midday brings the taste of summer with the pepper and eggplant spreads and the typical white cheese. Along the way, we raise small glasses of rakija and explain the rituals behind toasting while an expert and Rakija bar owner will tell you the story behind the famous drink. As the traditional spirit will open up again the stomach, a classic grill house will be waiting for us: kebapi off the charcoal and soft flatbread tearing at the table. We finish sweet with centuries-old dessert recipes: padobranci, orasnici, trileche, while your guides share the stories behind Old Bazaar foodways and how these dishes traveled here over time. We handle the ordering and translations, tailor portions to appetite and dietary needs, and keep walking distances short. It’s a paced tasting journey, not one heavy meal, so you leave comfortably full, armed with favorite addresses and the confidence to return on your own. Come hungry, ask questions, and eat the city the way locals do.
