Description

Located near the center of Oslo, Vettakollen offers a Nordic forest hike that leads to a spectacular panorama of the fjord and the city. An accessible nature getaway, perfect for unforgettable views.
Meet at the National Theater, and then set off on a full immersion in Norwegian nature, just a few minutes from downtown Oslo by metro. The activity starts at the iconic Sognsvann Lake. After a brief introduction to the route, we will soon enter the Nordmarka Forest.

The trail gradually ascends through a wild and soothing natural setting, winding among pine trees, birch trees, moss, and forest paths. The route alternates between gentle sections and steeper climbs, providing the perfect balance between effort and enjoyment while remaining accessible.

Throughout the hike, breaks are built in to allow you to observe nature, take photos, discover the fauna and flora, learn about the secrets of this region, and soak up the unique atmosphere.

After about 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking, we reach Vettakollen. The panorama is spectacular: below us lies Oslo, bordered by its fjord and its islands. This viewpoint is considered one of the most beautiful in the region, especially at sunset, when the light enhances the landscape and the water. This is a highlight of the hike, the perfect spot to rest, contemplate, and take unforgettable photos.

The hike then continues along a variety of forest paths that offer more beautiful viewpoints, such as the one from the DNT cabin at Fuglemyrhytta.

The activity ends at Frognerseteren, where you will take the metro back down to the city center, enjoying the views one last time during the ride.

This hike is perfect for those who want an easy hike with stunning views and close to Oslo.
