Description
Winter Wonder Ski Touring around Tromsø is your guide service to the surrounding mountains of Tromsø. From December-May ski touring is the most beautiful experience you can have, both up & down.
Whether you’re new to ski touring (ski de randonnee) or already have experience, you’re welcome to join this ski touring trip. Your guide and instructor will teach you how to use the equipment, introduce you to essential techniques, and lead you safely up the mountain, with breathtaking views of the fjords and city lights along the way.
Your guide is a certified local ski guide and avalanche instructor with over a decade of experience leading groups in the wilderness. Since 2011, he has shared his passion for the mountains with guests from all over the world. Safety is always the top priority, and whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll enjoy an unforgettable skiing adventure. Years of experience as a ski coach, avalanche instructor, and mountain leader ensure that you’re in good hands—your smile at the end of the trip is the measure of success.
Please book your ski package here: https://rental.tromsooutdoor.no/en/products/2056/ski-touring-package-with-boots (you can pick it up at 4PM the day before and return in 4:30 on the day of the trip).
After equipping ourselves, and going through the tour plan at the meeting point, we’ll drive to the foothills of the mountain before starting our ascent.
We always choose the safest and most enjoyable route according to your wishes, skiing ability, and fitness level. Typically, we climb around 400 vertical meters, moving through both forest and alpine terrain. The views of Tromsø, its fjords, and valleys make the journey—and especially the descent—spectacular.
On private tours we have more flexibility to choose bigger or smaller mountains, increased time frame and longer lunch breaks, opportunity to do two laps etc.. I'm very flexible.
The highlight of the trip is, of course, skiing down. This is where you truly “earn your turns” and get to enjoy all the fun.
To join, you should be an experienced skier, comfortable on blue and red slopes, and able to ski off-piste. Tree skiing is also a natural part of ski touring in Norway, so be prepared to slow down and take your time weaving through the forest.
If you don’t fully meet these requirements but still want to give it a try, you’re welcome to reach out and book a private trip. That way, the experience can be tailored to your needs.
The light during the trip varies through the season:
[December-january]: Typically descent using headlamps in the twilight or golden hour. Magical experience.
[February-march]: Days getting longer and we will no longer need headlamps. We see further.
[April-may]: April-April-You-Do-As-You-Will, In April the weather can be anything, but in may we typically hit spring.
