Duration:

Description
Cambutal is a prime location for observing turtles on its uncrowded beaches. Guided tours by conservation groups record turtle measurements and assist in relocating eggs to hatcheries.
The Turtle Nesting Experience in Cambutal presents a unique activity in Panama. Five species and one subspecies of sea turtles are found in the waters of the Panamanian Pacific, including the olive ridley, green, black, leatherback, loggerhead, and hawksbill turtles. The nesting seasons differ by species, allowing for sightings at various times of the year; however, the primary season along the Azuero coast generally occurs from July to November or December.
While Cambutal is mainly known for its surf spots, it is also regarded as one of the leading locations in Panama for turtle observation. The beaches are often less crowded, creating opportunities to traverse the coastline with a guide in search of turtle tracks.
These guides are associated with a conservation organization dedicated to marine turtle protection. They document the measurements of the turtles and may relocate eggs to a hatchery. You can participate in conservation efforts if you wish to help relocate turtle eggs once the mother has finished laying them. The use of gloves is mandatory to protect the turtle eggs. Moreover, from September to January, tours can be arranged to observe the release of turtle hatchlings.

When you come across turtles during this adventure, make sure to adhere to the guide's instructions carefully. Keep your hands off the turtles, their eggs, and any hatchlings that may be present. Protecting these creatures from disturbance is crucial, so avoid using camera flashes or directing bright lights toward them during nesting periods. The guide will rely on a red light for visibility

The timing of the "Cambutal Turtle Nesting Experience" shifts with tidal patterns, since tides play a key role in determining the optimal moments for turtle egg-laying
