Description

A 7 day trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash will allow you to enjoy incredible views, mountains, valleys where they seek to capture the best experiences during the days of your stay.
Day 01: Huaraz – Huanucopampa – Queropalca
We start with a 6 hour drive from Huaraz to La Union.
From La Union we drive a half hour further to Huanuco Pampa (3736m) situated on a grand plateau area.
We´ll visit this intriguing and captivating ancient Inca city of Huanuco Viejo having lunch.
Then we´ll continue to Queropalca where is our first Camp.
Day 02: Queropalca – Carhuacocha
Here we´ll meet our Arrieros (donkey driver) and donkeys.
From this point, we hike to Lake Carhuacocha at 4150m
From Carhuacocha we´ve close up views of the snow-capped peaks of Jirishanca and Yerupajá which are reflected in the lake water.
We camp on the shores of Lake Carhuacocha.
Day 03: Side Trip to the Spectacular Laguna Siula Lakes and Return to Carhuacocha Camp.
We stay another night at Carhuacocha to enjoy the mountain surroundings.
We take a day hike up a side valley past the base of Yerupaja and Siula Grande.
Here we find 3 glacial lakes, all unique in that each has a different shade of blue or green.
Sometimes we see avalanches coming off the glaciers into the lakes.
Day 04: Via Punta Carhuac to Laguna Mitucocha.
A steady ascent on a good path takes us to Punta Carhuac (4650m) pass, with good opportunities en route of spotting the elusive Viscacha rodent, endemic to the high Andes.
From here, weather permitting, we will enjoy excellent views of the Yerupaja and Siula Grande peaks.
We´ll descend on grass to the Janca plateau then head southeast to reach tonight’s camp at another large, trout-filled lake; Laguna Mitucocha. After lunch, you have the option of walking around the lake.
From our camp we have superb views of the sheer face of Jirishanca (6094m) and Jirishanka Chico.
Day 05: Mitucocha – Rondoy
Leaving our camp we head towards Cacanampunta Pass (4750m).
From this vantage point we´ll enjoy the spectacular view on the other side of the valley and we might have an opportunity to observe majestic condors flying above the pass.
We then descend down to our camp at Rondoy valley (4350m).
Day 06: Rondoy – Jahuacocha.
Today is a demanding day but well worth the energy.
You´ll personally capture this day in breathtaking majestic scenic views as we gradually ascend up through the Rondoy Valley.
After ascending to the top of the Rondoy Pass at 4750 m we then descend towards the beautiful Laguna Jahuacocha on the way.
Camp at the head of the lake at 4050m.
Day 07: Jahuacocha / Llamac- Huaraz.
After an early start and gentle descent for an hour, we start our gradual climb to the final pass, Pampa Llamac (4300m).
From here we have our final views of much of the Huayhuash range.
Then it is a long descent back to the Llamac valley and the village of Llamac.
In Llamac the bus will be waiting to take us back to Huaraz.
Arrive in Huaraz at about 16:00 hours.
