DAY 1 AREQUIPA/COLCA.
We'll pick you up from your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning, and then we'll start our excursion to the spectacular Colca Valley. We'll skirt the slopes of the Chachani, Misti, and Pichupichu volcanoes, arriving at the Pampa Cañahuas reserve, which is part of the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you can see vicuñas in their natural habitat. At this point, you'll be at an altitude of 4,000 meters above sea level.
We'll arrive at "Alto Sumbay," an Andean community located on the opposite side of the reserve. Here, it's interesting to observe the stone formations and a view of the back sides of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes. To get used to the altitude, we'll enjoy an original "Mate de Coca" or a coffee in a small place that offers food and drinks on the road (bathroom service available).
We'll continue the tour through the "Tocra" area, at over 4,400 meters above sea level, where you'll see some wild birds and get a view of the highlands with llamas and alpacas. Our highest point is "Pata Pampa" (Pata=high, Pampa=land) located 4910 meters above sea level, where you can see the Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca, Mismi volcanoes and the Chila mountain range.
We'll arrive in the town of Chivay (3651 meters above sea level), the capital of the Colca Valley, where you can enjoy lunch (not included), then you'll be checked into the selected hotel. In the afternoon, we'll explore the relaxing thermal pools of Chacapi. Back in Chivay, we'll enjoy a folk show, followed by dinner (not included).
Once the visits are over and this exciting day is coming to an end, the transport will take you to your respective accommodations.
DAY 2: COLCA / CRUZ DEL CONDOR.
Early breakfast and then we'll head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint. Our first stop will be the village of Yanque, where we'll see typical dances and admire an imposing colonial church.
Arrive at the viewpoint in good time, where you'll have enough time to appreciate the depth of the Canyon, and if the weather is favorable, get spectacular photos of the condors, which can glide on the air currents without much effort. After a coordinated time, our guide will lead you on a short walk (approx. 30 to 40 min) along the edge of the canyon.
On the way back, we'll stop at the Antahuilque and Huayrapunko viewpoints, where you'll have a panoramic view of the Colca Valley and its 1,500-year-old pre-Inca terraces. A quick visit to the village of Maca, then on to the village of Chivay for lunch (not included).
After lunch, you'll head back to the city of Arequipa. You'll arrive in Arequipa around 4:00 to 4:30 PM.
Once in Arequipa, we'll transfer you to your hotel if it's located in the historic center.
