Discover the origins of the stone of sillar on a guided tour from Arequipa. Visit the Añashuayco Quarry and see how local masons work the stone. Admire the immense canyon of cliffs, a result of the extraction of the material for the formation of sillar.

Be picked up from the meeting point in Arequipa at approximately 8:50 AM and head towards the Sillar Route, one of the most historic roads in Peru. Arrive at a viewpoint to appreciate a beautiful view of the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, and then continue the journey.

Stop at the Añashuayco Quarry and see how local masons work the stone and learn the process of carving. Admire the immense canyon of cliffs, a result of the extraction of the material for the formation of sillar.

Leave the Añashuayco Quarry and, after about 30 minutes, reach the Culebrillas Gorge. Admire the canyon walls that invite you to admire their 20-meter-high walls and walk into it for a 20-minute walk.

The last stop on the Sillar Route is to discover the petroglyphs of the canyon, figures carved in stone whose meaning is unknown. Finally, return to Arequipa at 1:00 PM, where the tour ends.
