The Colca Canyon, also known as "The Valley of Wonders" is an essential place to visit in Arequipa.
DAY 1
Arequipa - Patapampa - Coporaque
Highest elevation: 4910 meters

Departure from Arequipa

We will depart from Arequipa at 07:30 a.m. towards the town of Chivay. Along the way, we will enjoy views of the Misti, Chachani, and Pichupichu volcanoes, and pass through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where we may spot vicuñas.

As we approach Tocra, we'll encounter the local vegetation and fauna, including llamas and alpacas. Our journey will take us to the highest point of the trip, Patapampa, at an altitude of 4,910 meters, offering views of the Ampato, Sabancaya, Hualca Hualca, Mismi volcanoes, and the Chila mountain range.

Visit to Chivay

Continuing through the traditional terraces of the Colca Valley, we'll reach the town of Chivay. We'll make a stop in the traditional village of Coporaque for lunch and optional guided tours of its surroundings for approximately 60 minutes.

To end the day, we'll visit the hot springs of Coporaque. After a relaxing bath, we'll head to our chosen accommodation in Chivay for the night.

DAY 2

Our first stop of the day will be the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, where we can admire the depth of the canyon and, with luck, spot condors, which often visit the viewpoint in the mornings.

Next, we'll visit the traditional village of Pinchollo and the Antahuilque viewpoint, offering a closer look at the Pre-Inca terraces that are over 1,500 years old. We'll then stop at the Choquetico viewpoint to observe the hanging tombs.

Additionally, we'll briefly visit the village of Maca and the church of Yanque, considered the most beautiful in the valley. The rest of the afternoon will be free for exploring and relaxation.

DAY 3
Coporaque - Chivay - Arequipa

On our final day, we'll immerse ourselves in the daily life and traditions of the Coporaque people, engaging in activities such as harvesting, preparing the land, or tending to animals with a local family.

Finally, we'll visit the village of Chivay, where we'll have time to explore and have lunch. We'll conclude the 3-day Colca Canyon Trek by returning to Arequipa or, if you've opted for the extension, heading to the city of Puno.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
