WHAT WILL I SEE?
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of living culture and rich history. Over the course of decades, stonemasons have shaped this volcanic tuff canyon, extracting and carving the material and becoming the architects of the construction and reconstruction of the White City.
The tour highlights the importance of this site, explaining why it was declared a National Cultural Heritage Site and is even considered a living culture of Arequipa.
For this very reason, Arequipa was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2001. Here, you will discover the answer to why the beautiful city of Arequipa is called the “White City.” You will be able to take spectacular photos with the huge carvings of various animals, birds, and figures.

OVERVIEW OF PLACES TO VISIT
- Start of the tour through the historic city center.
- Visit to the Yanahuara viewpoint and square, along with the Archangel Michael Church.
- Visit to the Quebrada de Añashuayco, where you will find stonemasons or master builders working on the “ashlar” carvings. After the guided tour, you can take plenty of photos with the mega carvings.
- Visit to the Quebrada de Culebrillas (hike and photos)
- Explanation of the petroglyphs of the Wari culture.
- Return to the city.
