Description

A day-tour to the Sacred Valley, where you can explore the harrowing mountain peaks and rural villages as you pass roaming llamas and alpacas, with a break for lunch in between.
After being picked up from your accommodation in Cusco at around 7:30AM, you will be taken on a road that winds around the mountains north of the city. On the way, you will stop at a famous point known as El Mirador (Lookout Point). From there, you will be able to see the Sacred Valley, and gain some insight into the history of the Inca. The Sacred Valley was one of the main areas the Incas settled, as there is an unusual abundance of fertile plains in this high area of the Andes. You will also be able to witness vast contour terracing and irrigation channels left behind by the Incas.

Later on, you will drive towards the ruins of Pisac. Here, you will witness and learn about Inca culture, and also see some amazing works of stone art and impressive agricultural terraces. You will then head to the town of Urubamba, where you will sit down for a delicious buffet lunch. Following lunch, you will drive along the Urubamba River towards the town of Ollantaytambo. Once you reach Ollantaytambo, you will visit the ruins, an important area of Incan construction which was built during the Inca’s heyday. This is an extraordinary Inca site in which you can find rock formations representing the Inca god, Wiracocha.

You will then continue to Chinchero to see how natural dyes are made for artisanal textiles, with this town’s inhabitants living in dwellings and conditions nearly the same as their ancestors. They dress in multicolored clothing, speak only Quechua, and maintain age-old customs. At the conclusion of your tour, you will be returned to Cusco at around 7:00PM.
