Explore the Inca terraces in Moray
Our tour will begin with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco between 8:40 am and 9:00 am. From there, you will drive for approximately one hour to Chinchero, making a short stop in this town to visit one of the last traditional families and learn about ancient textiles and the weaving process.
Afterwards, you will continue for another 30 minutes to Moray, the ancient Inca agricultural laboratory located in a unique circular terraces formation. You will learn about the irrigation system that was used to water this area.
Once you have explored Moray, you will continue your tour for approximately an hour to the Salineras Salt Mines of Maras, your last destination. These salt mines consist of a vast collection of terraces created from a water stream high on a mountain.
For many centuries, the salt spring has been channeled into 1,000 small pools. On sunny days, the water evaporates, leaving behind pure salt. This technique has been used since pre-Inca times. Finally, you will drive back to Cusco, which will take around 1.5 hours, and your group will be dropped off near the Main Plaza de Armas.
