Description

This less traveled road offers breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere that evokes the reverence of the Incas, highlighted by its remote nature and captivating landscapes.
Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa
Pick up from hotel in Cusco between 4:45 am and 5:30 am. Panoramic bus ride through the Anta plains with views of the Salkantay and Apurimac River Valley. Stop in Mollepata for breakfast (not included), then to Cahllacancha. Trek to Soraypampa (3900 masl), arrival in approximately 4 hours. Lunch in domes and glass cabins. Visit to Humantay lagoon (4200 masl), 3 hours round trip. Dinner and overnight in camp

Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Huayramachay – Chaullay
Early in the morning we will start with coca tea, followed by a nutritious breakfast at 6:00 am. The day will be the most challenging of the Salkantay trek, ascending 6 kilometers to the highest point. We will enjoy the scenery of the Rocky Mountains and the majestic Mount Salkantay, reaching its summit at 6264 meters above sea level. After admiring spectacular views, we will descend for 2 hours to have lunch at 1:00 pm in Huayracmachay. Then, we will continue to Chaullay, arriving to our campsite at 2900 meters above sea level after 3 hours of descent. Dinner at 6:00 pm to recover energy.

Day 3: Chaullay | Collpapampa – La Playa – Aguas Calientes
At 6:00 AM we will begin our hike to La Playa, crossing the picturesque valley of Santa Teresa. During today's 6 hours, we will explore a new and lush landscape, with views of rivers, waterfalls and abundant flora such as wild orchids, coffee, banana and avocado trees. You will be able to taste local fruits such as passion fruit and granadilla along the way. In Colpapampa, known as the "front of the cloud forest", we will be able to observe waterfalls, birds and, with luck, Peru's national bird, "El Gallito de las Rocas". After a hearty lunch at La Playa, we will transfer by transport to the hydroelectric plant in approximately 1 hour and a half.
From there, we will walk 10 kilometers along the railway for 3 hours to Aguas Calientes, where we will stay in a hotel. Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included.

Day 4: The Most Important Day – Machu Picchu
Today, we'll embark on an early exploration of Machu Picchu, aiming to arrive before other tourists for a serene sunrise experience from a unique vantage point. A knowledgeable guide will lead us on a comprehensive 2-hour tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site, delving into its rich history and mystical allure. Afterward, optional climbs of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain are available for those with pre-booked tickets ($60 USD extra). You'll have 3 hours to further explore independently before returning to Aguas Calientes. From there, we'll travel by train to Ollantaytambo and then by minivan to Cusco, concluding at Plaza San Francisco after approximately 6 hours.
