Step into the stillness of a Lapland winter with a husky at your side. On this gentle, hands-on day tour you are paired 1:1 with one of our Alaskan huskies, joined by a comfortable waist harness, and together you walk compacted snowy forest trails as your dog leads the way.

We collect you from the meeting points or your accommodation in Äkäslompolo. After a warm welcome and safety briefing you meet the dogs: Alaskan huskies are working dogs bred for stamina and joy on the trail, and each one has its own character. We fit your harness, show you how we communicate with the dogs, and set off at a pace built around connection.

Routes lead through peaceful forest and open fell views around Äkäslompolo and Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, typically 6–12 km depending on conditions and the group. Along the way we pause for photos, rest, hot berry juice and a sweet snack, and quiet time with your husky.

Your guides, Ciara and Susi, call Lapland home. Ciara has guided outdoors for many years, including as an expedition guide with sled dogs, and Susi is a veterinary technician with a deep care for dog welfare. Groups are kept to a maximum of 5 guests so there is time and attention for every person and every dog.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
