Visit a llama farm in Ollantaytambo and learn about these iconic animals. Feed the llamas and alpacas, and discover their role in Andean culture.
Meet your guide at the main square in Ollantaytambo and take a short walk to a local llama farm in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, be greeted by a member of the local community, who will introduce you to Peru’s iconic camelids.
Discover the fascinating differences between llamas and alpacas, their importance in Andean culture, and the role they’ve played since the time of the Incas. Next, take part in a traditional local activity as you head out into the fields to cut fresh grass, just as local farmers do.
Afterward, feed the llamas and alpacas while interacting with these gentle animals in their natural setting. This experience also supports a local community project, making your visit meaningful both for you and for the families who care for these animals.
