Description

On this excursion to Nauta and the birth of the Amazon River from Iquitos we will visit a beautiful Peruvian town and learn about the origin of the largest river in the world.
Itinerary
We will pick you up at 9:00 am and from there we will travel by road to Nauta, a cozy town located in the Peruvian province of Loreto.

During the route we will cross the wetlands and forests of the lush Quistococha National Tourist Park. We will also pass through the chamizales and barrales with white sand soil where the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve is located. It is a privileged place for observing avian fauna, including several dozen endemic species.

At 10:30 a.m. we will arrive at Nauta, one of the main river ports in the Peruvian Amazon. We will take a tour of the city and the Sapi Sapi lagoon. Animals such as the taricaya turtle, the crocodile or the paiche live in this place. In addition to animals, this lagoon contains secrets related to mythological creatures. What beings have fed the stories of the lagoon? Where are you from? We'll find out!

We will take a break to regain strength with a picnic lunch. Later, we will take a quiet walk along the Marañón River on a motor boat. This journey will take us to the confluence of the Ucayali River, the birthplace of the Amazon River.

After two hours of crossing we will arrive at the town of Grau, where we will enjoy extraordinary views from the Mirador del Amazonas. After contemplating the panoramic views, we will return sailing to Nauta.

Finally, from Nauta we will return by road to Iquitos. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
