From Iquitos || 4 day Yanayacu River tour with bird watching

Do you like ornithology? With this 4-day tour along the Yanayacu River, you will discover the most dazzling species that inhabit the Peruvian jungle, bird watching is guaranteed!
Itinerary
Day 1

At 9:15 a.m. we will pick you up at your hotel in Iquitos in a minibus and go to the port of the city. Once there, we will take a boat to embark on a journey across the Yanayacu River to reach the lodge.

When we disembark, we will leave our belongings in the cabins and have a delicious meal. Later, we will start with a walk in which we will identify the different types of plants that birds look for. After the first reconnaissance of the area, we will relax with dinner while listening to nature at its best.

Day 2

We will wake up before dawn to discover a unique species: the Crax Globulosa, an endangered bird whose black plumage contrasts with its orange and reddish beak, a visual marvel!

We will then head back to the camp for lunch. Then, we will take a boat ride on the Yanayacu River and go to a lagoon to contemplate the radiant sunset. We will have dinner and finish the day going into the jungle to meet other nocturnal birds.

Day 3

A new day dawns! We will enjoy a succulent breakfast and, water level permitting, we will embark on a very special route. We will go deep into the undergrowth of the southern Peruvian Amazon to see monkeys, majestic butterflies, insects and different birds - and beware, the anaconda also roams these parts!

We will have lunch and continue our adventure in the Corrientillo lagoon to continue admiring tropical birds. After dinner, another night walk awaits us.

Day 4

Early in the morning, we will leave the camp to sail to the Amazon islands, where we will meet endemic birds. We will have breakfast on board the boat while we observe the species of the high jungle, where the extraordinary pink dolphin and the Victoria Regia plant live!

After lunch, we will head to Iquitos, where we will arrive at approximately 4:00 pm.

Lodging

This tour includes 3 nights full board accommodation in a double room at the Muyuna Amazon Lodge. The cabins at the camp have private bathrooms and a terrace with hammocks facing the river.

Flight schedule

If your flight schedule does not coincide with the time indicated, we can adapt the schedule to pick you up upon arrival by adding a supplement for late pick up. It is preferable to travel with sunlight to see the river, so the maximum departure time would be at 15:00 hours.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

Cancellation is not possible. If you cancel it anyway or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity and the money you paid will not be refunded.
