Description

On this excursion to Nauta and the source of the Amazon River we'll visit a beautiful Peruvian village and learn about the largest river in the world.
We'll pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in Iquitos, and from there we'll travel by road to Nauta, a welcoming town located in the Peruvian province of Loreto.

On the way we'll pass through the wetlands and forests of the lush Quistococha National Tourist Park. We'll also pass through the areas of 'chamizales' and 'varillales' vegetation with white sandy soil in which the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve is located. This is an amazing place for the bird watching, hopefully we'll get to see lots of endemic species.

At 10:30 am we'll arrive in Nauta, one of the main river ports of the Peruvian Amazon. We'll take a tour of the city and the Sapi Sapi lagoon. This place is home to animals such as the taricaya turtle, the crocodile and the pirarucu fish. But that's not all that this lagoon hides...According to legend mythical creatures lurk below the waters...You'll have to come along to find out more!

Next we'll take a break to recharge our batteries with a picnic lunch. Afterwards, we'll take a leisurely ride on the Marañon River in a motor boat. This trip will take us to the confluence of the Ucayali River, the source of the Amazon River.

After a two-hour trip we'll arrive at the village of Grau, where we'll enjoy extraordinary views from the Mirador del Amazonas. After enjoying the panoramic views, we'll return by boat to Nauta.

Finally, from Nauta we'll return by road to Iquitos. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled at 5:30 pm.
