7-Day Tambopata Tour with Bird Watching

Meet the parrots, macaws and other exotic birds of Tambopata with this 7-day tour from Puerto Maldonado. A perfect tour for nature lovers!
Day 1
After picking you up at the airport or at an agreed location in Puerto Maldonado, we will transfer to the city dock, from where we will begin a canoe trip along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. While we have a picnic on board, we will begin to discover some of the species of the Tambopata National Reserve: the large urutaú, the chestnut jacamar, the black-capped herons...
The trip will conclude at the Tambopata accommodation where we will spend the next six nights. You will have the afternoon free to rest in your rooms. When the sun goes down, we will meet again to take a night walk in search of night owl species such as the short-eared owl or the Amazonian owl.

We will conclude this first day with a comforting dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
We will have breakfast very early and, as soon as dawn, sail to the Tambopata clay lick. On this clay wall we will see a large number of exotic Amazonian birds, especially parrots and macaws.
After admiring these colorful birds, we will return to the hotel for lunch and then take a short 20-minute walk to Laguna Chica. On the shores of this lake we will see various types of toucans, in whose elongated beaks we will appreciate a surprising chromatic variety.
Finally, we will return to the hotel for dinner and rest until the next day.

Day 3
As soon as we have breakfast, we will set off to explore the trail forests of Tambopata. On this hiking route, approximately six kilometers long, we will see different types of endemic birds in their natural habitat, such as the semi-collared bolio or the white-winged tanager.
After a break to have a picnic in the middle of nature, we will continue the route to see other birds up close such as the dirty red tanager or the red-billed toucan. We will be back at the hotel at 4:00 p.m. You will have the rest of the day free to rest or explore the surroundings on your own.

Day 4
We will climb to the highest bird watching tower in the Amazon. The effort will be worth it, since from its 46 meters we will have privileged views of the Tambopata Reserve. ¡

Day 5
After having breakfast very early, we will walk the almost five kilometers that separate us from Lake Cocococha. We will arrive just at dawn: the perfect time to contemplate the low flight of birds such as red-bellied macaws, long-billed nuthatches or the friendly kingfishers.

Day 6
We will dedicate this sixth day entirely to exploring other trail areas that we had not explored during the rest of the tour. A new opportunity to spot exotic birds from Tambopata!

Day 7
After breakfast, we will say goodbye to Tambopata and take you back to the Puerto Maldonado airport. We will be at the terminal taking into account the departure time of your flight.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
