FULL DAY LAKE SANDOVAL & THE MONKEY HOUSE
Reception at our office and departure to the boat, with a 40-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River. Upon arrival at the Tambopata National Reserve, we will enter Lake Sandoval in 5 minutes.
The walk is 3 kilometers (1 hour) along a well-maintained path that connects with a well-preserved bridge leading to the lake, where we can find:
Up to 4 species of monkeys
Snakes
Tarantulas
Tropical birds
Parrots
Mammals
At the end of the walk, a canoe will be waiting for us to explore Lake Sandoval. We will explore the right bank to look for wildlife around the lake, and along the way, we may spot tropical birds on the shore, herons, caimans, and the giant river wolf, which can grow up to 2 meters long, a representative animal of the Madre de Dios region.
Lunch will be at 1:00 PM, where our friend Luis and his family will serve us typical local food (juane) and regional drinks. We’ll take a short rest of about 1 hour or 40 minutes in the hammocks available around our lodge.
Afterwards, we return to our canoe to continue searching for more wildlife or monkeys that sometimes leap along the shores. Our boat will be waiting for us on the Madre de Dios River to return to Puerto Maldonado.
VISIT TO THE MONKEY HOUSE
Enjoy a brief visit to the Monkey House, a new place where you can interact with monkeys that roam freely and play around. A local family cares for them and has all the necessary permits. Additionally, there are games available for the younger ones, making it a fun and engaging experience.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
