Description
Mother of God: Saldoval Lake + Visit to the Macaws
Day 01: Reception / Jungle Walk / River Safari The trip begins when you arrive in Puerto Maldonado and are transferred aboard a boat to the lodge (approximately 1 ½ hours downriver). Upon arrival, you will enjoy a tasty lunch made with organic ingredients and native flavors. Afterwards, you will take a walk along the nature trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, uses, man-made transformations and its relevance to the world. In the evening, you will take an interesting excursion to learn about its ecosystem, the Amazonian gorges and the behavior of nocturnal fauna on the river banks. Back at the lodge, you will enjoy a traditional dinner. Day 02: Expedition to Sandoval Lake / Night Walk Today will be a day full of emotions. After a nutritious breakfast, you will prepare for a walk through the Tambopata National Reserve, which will take you to Sandoval Lake. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and the formation of the lake, canoeing through this body of water, home to the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, the "Paiche". After a restful rest, we prepare for a peculiar sunset walk, a night walk in which you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the nocturnal flora and fauna of the Amazon. The day ends with a traditional dinner in the dining room. Day 03: Sunrise in the Amazon and Visit to the Canopy Tower A morning of adventure, we head to the bridges built 15 meters above the ground, right in the treetops, with a privileged view that will allow us to enjoy a unique, relaxing and informative landscape. You will be able to observe birds and, if we are lucky, some mammals in the heart of the Amazon. In the afternoon, after lunch, we can visit the gardens and the native farm to taste the fruits and the harvest of the season. We can also choose between trying our luck at artisanal fishing and having dinner on our catch, or visiting the original families of the Amazon, the Bococo, a very original ethnic group that emigrated to an island near the ecolodge. Day 04: Morning walk / Breakfast / Transfer to Puerto Maldonado This morning you will be free to enjoy the sunrise and capture the impressive views of the Madre de Dios River. Those who prefer can go out to look for birds early in the morning, for which they must be at the meeting point before 5 in the morning. Upon your return from the morning informative walk, you will enjoy a last and nutritious breakfast. Your guide and the staff in charge will say goodbye to you and thank you for visiting this part of the Amazon. We will travel by canoe with an outboard motor back to Puerto Maldonado. According to your departure time.
