Description
Pedal through high Andean landscapes, surrounding lagoons and ancestral fields, until you reach the imposing chullpas of Sillustani, a 41 km route, and enjoy the unforgettable panoramic views
8:00 am We'll start the 15-minute ride from the hotel (city center) to the Yanamayo - Totorani habitat (2.1 km). Here, we'll stop to get the equipment and a general explanation of the route we'll be taking. From this point, the bike ride is on a paved road up to km 16.5. After that, the route is on a dirt road. Along the way, you'll find a landscape of highland plants like chilliwa and thola, and in some parts, you'll be able to see platforms or terraces. It's a 41 km route in total. The ride takes about four and a half hours to reach the Sillustani Archaeological Complex. You'll have a break to enjoy a snack while you admire the impressive Umayo Lagoon that surrounds the Sillustani Archaeological Complex.
Once you get to Sillustani, the tour is on foot and lasts from an hour and a half to two hours. At the end of the visit in Sillustani, we'll take the car to return to Puno. On the way, we'll stop at one of the family houses, where they'll kindly open the doors of their home to us and we'll get to know their lifestyle. The villagers have a natural charm to welcome you, allowing you to taste the wonder of "chaco," a type of clay widely consumed in the Andean areas and with medicinal attributes for gastritis, and to learn about the different varieties of quinoa and potatoes. You'll participate in a demonstration of their weaving techniques for making blankets from sheep and alpaca wool. It's an experience of landscape, history, and magic where you interact with the real life of the locals. You'll arrive in Puno at approximately 6:00 p.m.
