Do not turn your back on history.

Take the path that will uncover its myths.

The tour commences at Fort Santiago. Acknowledge the unsung patriots from pre-hispanic era to the Japanese occupation. Such names are Rajah Sulayman, Andres Novales and Gen. Vicente Lim.

This old Fort has always been synonymous with Dr. Jose Rizal. The last prison cell where he was detained has plenty of stories to tell- narratives of revolution and reformism that would shape our nation.

Breathe the thin supply of oxygen that the dungeons could only offer. Walk in the chambers that witnessed the death of 600 Filipino and American civilian prisoners of war. Pay tribute to their mass grave. Spread their stories and unleash them from oblivion.

The tour moves to Manila Cathedral. Listen to the stories of the power struggle between the church and the government- the conflict that held the Indios hostage.

Take a stroll along the General Luna Street and listen to the tales of courage and sacrifice of the Filipinos during the Philippine-American war- the struggle where the namesake of the said street figured as the fiercest general.

Make a stop at the Saint Agustin Church. Be mesmerized by the stories of its resiliency through the different periods of history.

The tour makes its last station at the Calle Real. Witness how much the former downtown of Intramuros has changed into its actual opposite.

At the end, if you find yourself asking more, dare to ask.
That is how you learn from the past because learning history is learning beyond the myths.
