Description

Relive Poznanians’ struggle for independence and take in the city's landmarks on this self-guided audio tour. Experience the magic of GPS-playback on this immersive stroll through Poznan.
Poznan is one of Poland’s hidden treasures, often overlooked by visitors to the country. On this walking tour, I’ll share fascinating stories about its turbulent history, give you the inside scoop on all the goats you’ll see, and introduce you to the city’s highlights.

Starting in Wolności Square (Liberty Square), this tour will lead you around the historic part of the city on the left bank of the Warta River. I’ll show you beautiful renaissance and baroque buildings from the 1800s and 1900s including the Raczyński Library, the Polish Theater in Poznan 1875, the impressive Imperial Castle, and the Bazar Hotel where our tour ends. While you soak up the architectural marvels, I’ll point out a few tell-tale signs of the clash between the Germans and the Polish their facade. You’ll get a chance to explore one of the city’s most prominent landmarks, Stary Rynek (the Old Market Square), which stands as the heart of Poznan. Surrounded by colorful, meticulously restored townhouses, the square is a lively hub where locals gather to socialize, dine alfresco, or simply soak in the atmosphere. The centerpiece of the square is the imposing Town Hall, an architectural masterpiece that serves as a symbol of the city’s power and prosperity.
