Skip the early start. Leave Krakow in the afternoon, ride a quad or snowmobile in the Tatra foothills and finish at an evening bonfire with highland snacks and local drinks.
This evening trip takes you from Krakow to Podhale, the highland region at the foot of the Tatra Mountains around Zakopane, for a quad (ATV) or snowmobile ride and a bonfire with local food and drinks. You leave in the afternoon and come back the same night, so you can spend your morning in the Old Town, at Wawel Castle or in the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Your driver meets you at the meeting point in Krakow and takes you south, a drive of around two hours. At the base, your instructor hands out a helmet, a waterproof suit and gloves. You don't need any riding experience. The instructor explains how to start, steer and brake, and answers your questions before the group sets off.

The ride lasts around one hour. Your instructor leads the group along local trails in the foothills and sets the pace. Snowmobiles usually run from December to March and quads the rest of the year, depending on snow conditions. If there is not enough snow for snowmobiles, you ride a quad instead. In winter it gets dark early, so you ride with headlights on and reach the bonfire at night.

Each vehicle carries up to two people. You can share one with a friend, one driving and one riding as passenger, or take a vehicle each. Solo travellers get a vehicle to themselves. Snowmobile drivers must be 18 or older and need no driving licence. Quad drivers need a valid driving licence, so bring it with you. Passengers must be at least 10 years old.

After the ride, you gather around the bonfire with your group. You taste grilled oscypek, a smoked cheese from the Tatra region, and sausage from the fire, with local drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. In autumn and winter we add hot mulled wine. The Górale, the highlanders of Podhale, have made this cheese for generations, and it tastes best hot from the grill. Swap stories from the trail while the fire keeps you warm.

When the bonfire ends, your driver takes you back to Krakow and drops you off at the meeting point, with time left for a late dinner in the Old Town.

The trip suits couples, groups of friends and families with children aged 10 and over, who join as passengers. It makes sense on a short stay in Krakow, when you want to see the mountains without giving up a full day of sightseeing.

Good to know: the ticket price does not include the vehicle rental. You pay it on site in cash, 400 PLN per vehicle. The waterproof suit goes over your own clothes, so in winter wear warm layers you can move in, plus waterproof boots. In summer, long trousers and closed shoes work best. We serve alcohol only after the ride. The ride goes ahead in light rain and snowfall, and if conditions are unsafe, we offer a new date or a full refund.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
