Horta: Whale and Dolphin Watching Cruise

Join a certified marine biologist on a boat tour around the Azores islands to look at and learn about the species they study. Depart from Horta and keep an eye out for whales, dolphins, and birdlife.
Here in Faial and Pico we work with Whale Spotters to find the whales and dolphins from land. A briefing about the marine biodiversity and cetaceans occurring in the region will be made. A marine researcher/Biologist from the University of Lisbon and Azores will be on board to collect data and to provide you a unique experience with up-to-date information on marine life.

Species/Species: With over 25 cetacean species in the region, normally 2 to 3 different are observed on each tour. Sperm whales year-round, Blue and Fin whales in spring, while Bryde and Sei whales can occur also in the summer + several dolphin species that are resident.

Transport: RIB boat 16pax

Our expeditions take an average of 3 hours. We have tours in the morning at 09h00 and in the afternoon at 14h00.
As our boat is a semi-rigid, we do not recommend this activity in case of severe back problems or in case of pregnancy. Please note that trips depend on the weather conditions and can be rescheduled, with full refund in case of cancellation. Information about the presence of species is provided before each trip.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
