The landscape of the Zekreet peninsula has a unique and fascinating geology. Salt flats, plateau rocks, and open desert dominate this scenery. There are no dunes here but bizarre rock formations and great views over the gulf's blue waters.
The journey will begin from Qatar's east coast ( Doha) to the west coast, passing by some important and interesting sites such as Qatar foundation education city, a camel race track, and a vast open desert. After around 45 minutes of driving, you will be on-site like planet mars.
• Zekreet village and fort are the first sites to visit remnants of a small 18th-century fort by the beach. Drive deep in the desert to the sculpture.
• Richard Serra's permanent installation in Zekreet, East-West/West-East, has become a famous landmark in Qatar. the installation comprises four towering steel sculptures in the middle of the desert. After taking some pictures, time to see whats this place is hiding.
