Let's discover the marvelous panoramas over Mafate around the Maïdo, on the ramparts of Mafate. Le'ts learn about this high altitude fantastic natural environment, and meet the history of this site.
Meet your guide at the Maïdo parking lot and enjoy the first view over Mafate at sunrise. Stick to this wonderful panorama all morning as you trek along a dizzy track known as “Le Grand Bord” (“The Big Edge”). As you go, see endemic low flora typical of the high altitude.

Then, start downhill, likely with the first clouds, and walk down by “La Glacière” to discover this vibrant historical place.

Hike for approximately 12 kilometers and 500 m climb with a professional mountain leader on a shared tour conducted in French only.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• The walk is 12 kilometers long (and takes about 6 hours to complete. The terrain is not steep but very rocky. Good health condition required.
• You will need to pack a picnic lunch, snacks, and a minimum of 2 liters of water per person for the day.
• A good understanding of French is required to take part in this activity.
• We cannot accept minors under the age of 18 unaccompanied by an adult.
• This tour operates every Tuesday and Saturday
• The guide will call you the day before the hike to give you the last details.
