Description

Starting in Bucharest and ending in Cluj-Napoca, the tour includes the top attractions of Transylvania, Bucovina and Maramures, but also multiple contacts with the locals.
Day 1. Arrival at Bucharest Airport. Meet at your hotel in Bucharest.
Day 2. City tour of Bucharest: the Parliament Palace, Lipscani district and the Village Museum. Optional: Ceaușescu's Mansion. Overnight at a hotel in Bucharest
Day 3. Peleș Castle & gardens from Sinaia, Bran Castle and then, Brașov. Optional: Prejmer fortified church or the Libearty Bear Sanctuary. Overnight at a hotel in Brașov.
Day 4. Brașov Old Town, including the Black Church. Cârța ruined monastery. Optional: Transfăgărășan road. Overnight at a hotel in Sibiu.
Day 5. Sibiu Old Town with its squares and merchant houses with “”the sleepy eye” dormers, Brukenthal Palace, Evangelical Cathedral, the Liars Bridge. Optional: Astra Village Museum or a walk in Rășinari village. Overnight at a hotel in Sibiu.
Day 6. Visit a Gypsy coppersmith, then the fortified church of Biertan, with the divorce/reconciliation room. Sighișoara Citadel: climb the School’s covered Staircase and the astronomic Clock Tower. Optional: a walk in a village like Mălâncrav (the only truly Saxon village left) or Viscri. Overnight at a hotel in Sighișoara.
Day 7. Cross the dramatic Bicaz Gorges, visit Agapia monastery (one of Europe's largest with 300 nuns, an entire monastic village). Optional: Piatra Neamț with the only wooden synagogue, built half underground. Overnight at a hotel in Gura Humorului.
Day 8. Bucovina Monasteries: Voroneț, „the Sistine Chapel of the East” with the famous Last Judgment fresco, Moldovița and Sucevița (perhaps the most impressive of Bucovina), Marginea black pottery workshop and Vama painted egg collection. Optional: Moldovița steam train, or Palma zip line, one of Europe's most beautiful. Overnight at a hotel in Gura Humorului.
Day 9. Ciocănești, the decorated village, Prislop Pass, then Maramureș. At Săcel, visit a devilish mask maker, in Botiza - a vegetal dyed rugs maker and in Bârsana - a large wood carving workshop. See Bârsana convent. Optional: Ieud old wooden church. Overnight at a guest house in Maramureș.
Day 10. The water mills, whirlpools and fruit brandy distilleries of Sârbi. Călinești old wooden church. Discover local life: dowry tradition, the hay culture, the medieval style farming and customs, visit Breb village, farmers and crafts, encounter more inhabitants. Optional: hike the Rooster's Crest, a natural reserve, great views. Overnight at a guest house in Maramureș.
Day 11. The Memorial of the Victims of the Communism and Elie Wiesel Museum from Sighetu Marmației. In Săpânța, the “Merry Cemetery“ and the tallest wooden church in the world. Optional: the Village Museums or the Synagogue, both in Sighetu Marmației. Overnight at a guest house in Maramureș.
Day 12. On the way, see the trout farm of Mara and St. Stephens Tower from Baia Mare. Arrival in Cluj-Napoca, at St. Michael Church and Unirii Square. Optional: Turda salt mine.
End the tour in Cluj-Napoca at a hotel which in not included in our package.

The tour is suitable for persons with an average physical condition.
On some occasions, museums, crafts workshops or other sites from our schedule may be closed, so the itinerary may be amended to reflect these closures.
Also, due to unforeseen circumstances there may be last-minute changes, sometimes after arrival, affecting the sequence of the tour, locations visited and/or hotels. Therefore, we reserve the right to adjust the sequence and/or substitute any hotels with others of similar category, without any cost adjustment.
The optional spots will be accepted for visit (with extra costs, where are entrance tickets), based upon time availability and only if the majority of the tour participants will decide to include them on the daily schedule.

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.


Cancellations

Cancellation is not possible. If you cancel it anyway or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity and the money you paid will not be refunded.
