This is a wonderful opportunity to explore Robben Island.
Your journey starts at the Nelson Mandela gateway to Robben Island. The gateway is at the V & A Waterfront in the Silo District. Here, you will be given your ticket and then board the ferry for a 30-minute ride to Robben Island. Upon arrival you will be taken on a guided tour by an ex-political prisoner who will tell you about the island's rich history. You will also get to see Nelson Mandela's actual prison cell where he spent a large part of his 27 year incarceration.
After the tour, you will board the ferry for a brief ride back to the Nelson Mandela Gateway.

Make your way to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island which is right next to the Clock Tower. Go up the steps at the entrance and join the line which will be for the Robben Island ferry.
