Learn more the history of Gaudí. Gaudí made a name for himself early on. To earn a little money for his studies in architecture, he made plans for his professors and helped with the world's fair grounds in Ciutadella Park. He is regarded today as one of the principal figures of Catalan Modernism, even through he kept developing his style and dabbled in fantastic surrealism.

The church in the worker's colony, "Colonia Güell," was important to Gaudí and he even finished its crypt. He also began experimenting with ideas for his most famous sacred work there: the Sagrada Familia, whose construction began when he was 31 and to which he dedicated much of the rest of his life.

It is said that Gaudí reinvented himself every 10 years, and the Sagrada Familia, on which he worked for 43 years, exhibits all of these styles.
