Description
Discover the oldest city in Western Europe with a local guide in German. Cathedral, hidden plazas, sailors' tales and the real Cádiz away from the postcards — in a small group
Cádiz is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Western Europe — a bright peninsula in the Atlantic where three thousand years of history rest in the same streets. On this walking tour, I will show you this city as a local knows it: not as a list of landmarks, but as a place full of stories.
We start in the old town and immerse ourselves in the labyrinth of narrow streets, where Phoenician walls, Baroque facades, and sunlit squares stand side by side. You will see the golden dome of the cathedral, hear why the Torre Tavira once watched over the merchant ships, and discover places that most visitors pass by without noticing — a quiet patio full of jasmine, an old sailor's pub, a balcony with the best view in the city.
Along the way, I'll tell you about the Phoenicians who founded Cádiz, the Romans, the merchants who set off from here for the New World, and the quick-witted, warm-hearted spirit that still characterizes the Gaditanos today. My tours are not lectures — they are a walk with someone who knows the right doors.
The group remains small so that there is time for your questions and everything feels like a stroll through the city among friends. The guided tour is in German, but can also be in English or French on request.
