Description

Guided Wine Tour in Jerez de la Frontera, highlighting its benefits as a unique and immersive experience for visitors to learn about the history, culture, and production of Sherry wine.
Welcome to Jerez de la Frontera – home to one of the world’s most famous designations of origin, “Jerez – Xérès – Sherry”! It is here that the Sherry Regulatory Council is located, responsible for overseeing two other very important and well-known denominations of origin: “Manzanilla – Sanlucar de Barrameda” and “Vinagre de Jerez”.

It is amazing to think that Jerez’s relationship with wine goes back more than 3000 years, with documents from the first century BC crediting the Phoenicians as the first to bring vines here, at the same time as the foundation of Gades, the current Cadiz.

On this guided tour of a winery in Jerez de la Frontera, you will have the chance to visit the iconic Gonzalez Byass winery, better known to many as “Tio Pepe”. Founded in 1835, the winery is set in the heart of Jerez, near the Cathedral and the Alcazar, making it a must-visit for visitors.

Your local guide will take you on a tour of this iconic winery, lasting one and a half hours. Here, you will learn about the history and traditional processes involved in producing some of the finest wines in the world. You will explore the cellars and even have the opportunity to sample some of the delicious wines produced here.

You will gain an insight into the proud heritage of this Sherry-producing area and find out more about the Denomination of Origin Jerez-Xérès-Sherry and its associated wineries, as well as the other two Denominations of Origin recognised by the Sherry Regulatory Council.

Join us on this incredible journey to discover the wineries and wines of Jerez de la Frontera!
