Description
Discover the building erected in honor of the founder of the Jesuits, located next to the Loyola family home, where, while recovering from his wounds, he had a vision that led him to embark on an incredible journey.
You will visit what is known as the Little Vatican. A circular building that will truly take your breath away. Designed by Bernini's foremost disciple, Carlo Maria Fontana, this Shrine bears witness to the grandeur of the world's largest male religious order. Their vow of obedience to the Pope has enabled them to be present all over the world, and this fact is reflected in the materials used. Philippine ivory, German silver, Carrara marble, Cuban and Lebanese cedar wood… This building is sure to impress. Afterward, we will visit the Casa Santa (Holy House), for which there is a separate charge, the birthplace of Saint Ignatius of Loyola and, more importantly, the place where, while recovering from mortal wounds sustained in battle, he had a vision that would change his life forever, leading him to embark on a profound spiritual journey that culminated in the founding of the Society of Jesus in Paris in 1534. This enjoyable 1.5-hour tour will fly by, thanks to the fascinating explanations provided by a guide who specializes in Saint Ignatius of Loyola and who will welcome you with open arms and be happy to answer your questions and address your concerns.
