Day 1: Negombo or BIA Airport to Yala via Galle (Approx. 5.5 Hours Drive)

08.00 am: Start your journey from Negombo or BIA Airport with optional stops at Madu Ganga and the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Madu Ganga in Balapitiya offers a tranquil river safari through a mangrove-rich estuary, showcasing a vibrant coastal ecosystem.

Along the boat ride, witness traditional fishing methods, spot wildlife like kingfishers, visit Temple Island, enjoy fish therapy, and explore Cinnamon Island. Kosgoda is famous for its sea turtle conservation project, which has been protecting turtles from extinction since 1988.

The hatchery collects eggs from local fishermen and has released around 3.5 million baby turtles back into the sea, contributing to the preservation of these incredible species.

10.30 am: Continue to Galle and explore the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Portuguese in 1588 and later fortified by the Dutch. The fort’s colonial architecture and fascinating history, coupled with its quaint cobblestone streets, create a timeless charm that draws visitors from around the world.

02.30 pm: In the afternoon, head to Weligama to witness stilt fishing, a centuries-old tradition practiced by a handful of families. Watch fishermen balance gracefully on poles in the sea, or try this unique method yourself for an unforgettable experience.
Conclude the day with a scenic drive to Yala for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Yala to Ella (Approx. 3.5 Hours Drive)

05.30 am: Begin your day with an early morning Jeep safari at Yala National Park, one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated wildlife destinations. Known for its high concentration of leopards, the park is home to 32 mammal species, 125 bird species, and a variety of other fascinating wildlife, including elephants, sloth bears, and wild water buffalo.

Keep an eye out for the rare Red Slender Loris, Fishing Cat, and Golden Palm Civet as you immerse yourself in this incredible biodiversity. After the safari, continue your journey to Ella.
