Start your adventure with a morning pickup from Moshi. Drive to Rongai Gate, where your porters will collect your luggage. Hike for 3 to 4 hours, covering a distance of 6.5 kilometers, to reach the first cave camp.
Day 2: Cave Camp 1 to Kikelewa Camp
Pass through the second cave camp and continue walking up to Kikelewa Camp. Hike for 3 to 4 hours, covering a distance of 9 kilometers, through the Moorland forest. Enjoy stunning views of the two Kilimanjaro cones, Kibo and Mawenzi, along with the eastern ice field of the crater. Meet your crew at the camp for rest and meals overnight.
Day 3: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp
Take a short hike with some steep slopes, covering a distance of 6 kilometers. This is the day where you can see the last plants as you will be heading to the alpine desert; the plants are the senecio which are your last ones to see until the summit. Reach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, where you’ll camp overnight at the base of the Mawenzi cone.
Day 4: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp
Embark on a long climb from Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Camp, covering a distance of 9 kilometers. Walk for 4 to 5 hours through the alpine desert, enjoying breathtaking views of the two Kilimanjaro cones, Kibo and Mawenzi. Reach Kibo Camp, your last camp before the summit.
Day 5: Summit and Descend to Kibo, then to Horombo
Begin your summit attempt at midnight, leaving Kibo Hut to ascend steep scree or snow to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After taking photos, descend through the Marangu route, stopping at Kibo Hut for lunch. Continue your descent to Horombo for an overnight stay and dinner.
Day 6: Horombo to Marangu Gate and Back to Moshi
Start with breakfast at Horombo, then trek down to Marangu Gate, passing through the Mandara Hut. Walk through the moorland and lush forest for 4 to 5 hours, covering a distance of 20 kilometers. Meet your porters and driver at the gate for your return to Moshi.
