Step away from typical tourist experiences and immerse yourself in the real daily life of elephants and their local caretakers in Chiang Mai. This hands-on, full-day experience lets you connect with elephants in an intimate and authentic setting, far from commercialized tours.
Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your Chiang Mai hotel and travel to a local elephant sanctuary run by a local villager and mahout family. Learn how elephants are raised as part of the family, a tradition in Northern Thailand where elephants are not taken from the jungle but live closely with people.
This tour is perfect for travelers seeking a genuine connection with elephants and their caretakers. If you’re looking for a professional guide packed with detailed information, this may not be the tour for you. However, if you want to witness how elephants live harmoniously with humans and how much they are loved, this is the experience you’re looking for.
Start by preparing and feeding the elephants, sharing joyful moments as they enjoy their food. Walk with them through the forest and observe their natural behaviors. Later, join them in the nearby river for a refreshing bath—an unforgettable and heartwarming experience.
Enjoy a delicious home-cooked Thai lunch while soaking in views of Chiang Mai’s lush mountains. Afterward, visit a Karen village and take a short trek to a local waterfall, where you can relax and enjoy nature before returning to Chiang Mai.
