On the agenda: 2 days in Djerba to visit the souks, a day of cultural visit to Matmata, visit of ksours and the desert valley of Dahar, 4 days of walking in the desert in nomadic bivouac accompanied by camel drivers, 5 yoga sessions at sunset, meditations at dawn.
With your local guide Ali from Toomana Tours and your French companion Elodie, you'll meet nomadic peoples and admire the treasures of Tunisia's natural, religious, and historical heritage. The desert is great for meditation, letting go of your body and mind.
Retreat duration: 8 days.
Full board: local food with fresh products prepared each evening by the on-site team.
You'll stay 2 nights at the hotel and 4 nights in a nomadic camp in the desert.
Tentative program (subject to change)
Day 1: Transfer from Djerba Island Airport. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. Free day.
Day 2: Morning: visit Matmata, Toujène, and the Douz souk. Afternoon: Arrive at the Bir Boubaker oasis camp, meet the caravaneers, have a yoga session, settle into the fixed camp, and enjoy dinner in the desert.
Day 3: Yoga session at dawn. 2-hour hike in the desert around Chareb elghares (big dunes). Picnic and then back to hiking. Short meditation. Set up the bivouac, free time, meal.
Day 4: Yoga session at dawn. About a 2-hour hike, a picnic with salad and sandwiches, then we'll pick up the meditative walk to the Erg dune. Karma Yoga: if you'd like, help with unloading or free time. Dinner and bivouac.
Day 5: Yoga session at dawn. About a 2-hour hike to the Bir Boubaker oasis. Picnic and yoga session. Karma Yoga: if you'd like, we can help with unloading. Bedouin meal: traditional musical evening.
Day 6: Yoga session at dawn. About a 2-hour hike, picnic at the Marabout Saint de Sidi Jemil. Return to Douz by 4x4.
Day 7: Visit Ksar Khalouf, hike in the Dahar Valley to Chenini. Head back to Djerba along the Roman road. Souks, souvenir shopping. Overnight at the hotel in Djerba. Evening meal not included.
Day 8: Airport transfer or free day. End of stay.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
