From Tunis - Sousse: 2-Day Sahara Desert Camp & Oases Tour

Embark on a 2-day adventure from Tunis to the Sahara Desert. Explore mountain oases, enjoy a desert camp experience, and visit the Roman amphitheater in El Jem.
Day 1: Departure – Mountain Oases – Desert Camp Experience

Begin with a pickup from Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. Enjoy a scenic drive through Kairouan, with a brief stop for photos or an optional exterior visit of the Great Mosque (if available).

Continue toward Gafsa, then head into the mountainous desert region. Arrive at the breathtaking oases of Chebika, Tamerza, and Mides (or Chebika & Tamerza). Explore waterfalls, gorges, and traditional Berber villages built into the mountains.

Stop for lunch at a local restaurant in Tamerza or Gafsa . Then, drive to the Sahara and arrive at "Dunes Insolites" Camp around 5:00 PM.

Receive a warm welcome and check into your tent. Choose from optional extra activities like a camel ride, quad biking, a 4x4 adventure, or sandboarding.

Enjoy a stunning sunset from the dunes, seated on traditional carpets with Saharan mint tea and time for photos. Participate in a live sand-bread making demonstration.

Savor a traditional desert dinner under the main tent, including salad, soup, brik, slow-cooked meat in a clay pot, and seasonal fruits. Spend the evening around the campfire with live Saharan music and folklore. Overnight in a comfortable, authentic Berber tent (shared clean toilets and showers available on-site).

Day 2: Matmata – El Jem – Return

Start your day with breakfast at the camp, including coffee, milk, eggs, fresh bread, dates, jam, butter, chocolate spread, and juice.

Depart toward Matmata, famous for its troglodyte homes, with an option to visit a traditional underground dwelling.

Continue to El Jem for a visit to its impressive Roman amphitheatre, one of the best-preserved in the world. Stop for lunch on your own at a local restaurant.

Finally, return to Tunis, Sousse, or Hammamet, arriving in the late afternoon (around 6:00–7:00 PM).

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
