Duration: 02:30 hours

Description

The ‘troubles’ and conflict are part of Belfast’s story but they’re not the only story. This is a positive introduction to Belfast where you will learn about the city's history, including recent troubles but we also look at music, art and, religion.
After meeting on the pavement outside Belfast City Hall, you will go through an introduction including a guide to the local humor, before the tour begins with a brief history to set the scene. You will make a quick visit to City Hall before setting out through the City Center, wandering past scenes of the recent troubled past before meandering through the famous Entries. They, like much else in the city have secrets hidden in plain sight. In Belfast, it's often what you don't see or what's hidden subtly below the surface that's the most illuminating

The tour will then move down towards the River Lagan, passing the Statue of Harmony on the way and allowing time for photo opportunities. You will follow the river back to the Big Fish before moving back towards the city center again. You will then pass the Albert Clock and move through the Cathedral Quarter which has some wonderful murals, here you will be able to learn how punk rock brought people together, as well as finding the link between the mural and President Clinton. After that you will cut through an entry to visit the sites of Belfast’s radical, humane past on it’s oldest street. The tour concludes with a visit to the First Presbyterian Church, a hidden gem and a building that sits at the center of Irish history.

The tour concludes within sight of Belfast City Hall. The pace is gentle, you will cover 2.5 miles whilst being entertained, engaged and informed. You will also receive plenty of insider tips on things to see and do, this is not a standard sightseeing tour although there are plenty of opportunities to do that. It is part walking tour, part theatrical experience. If you're looking for something a little deeper, something that gets below the surface yet is good fun, this is the tour for you.
