Description

Learn about Scotch whisky and sample some great locally-sourced Scottish products with this experience at the Mharsanta restaurant in the historic Merchant City area of Glasgow.
Discover more about whisky through vision, taste and aroma at the contemporary Scottish restaurant Mharsanta, located in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City. Our reputation is based on priding ourselves on using great quality locally produced Scottish food and a warm welcome.

Across the afternoon you will sample 3 great Scottish whiskies with a tasting delivered by our in-house whisky experts.

Included are some Scottish delights that Mharsanta has to offer with our favourite sharing plates – MacSween’s Haggis Croquettes, Mini fish ‘n chips, Scottish Smoked salmon with oatcakes, Goat’s Cheese Croquettes and Wild Mushrooms on Toasted sourdough.

Mharsanta is a family-run restaurant on Bell Street, one of the oldest streets in Glasgow. There were only 13 streets in Glasgow until the mid 1700s. There are now over 6000 so we’ve grown a bit.

Bell Street was one of those early thirteen and it’s part of what we now call the Merchant City area of Glasgow. These days, it is a hub of bars, restaurants and venues but in the 1800s and 1900s it was home to many of the cities wholesale markets selling some of Scotland’s best produce.

If we go back further to the 1700s, the Merchant City was where the traders, merchants in tobacco, sugar and tea had both their warehouses and their magnificent villas where they displayed their wealth.
