What about The Guild of The Holy Cross? This superb Chapel that dates from 1269 was the real seat of power in the town for centuries; despite falling foul of King Henry the 8th and his successors. Next door is Shakespeare's schoolroom, restored to its period splendor - and the 15th Century Almshouses also built by The Guild.
