Begin your day with a hotel pickup in Hanoi. Head to Quang Phu Cau, a village known for its traditional incense production. Wander through narrow lanes filled with the enchanting aroma of incense and capture stunning photos of the vibrant red sticks drying in the sun.
Learn the tradition of incense making in Quang Phu Cau, which dates back over a century. The village has been crafting incense since the 19th century, and it remains a great tradition.
Next, visit a workshop specializing in sandal production by Nguyen Thi Nhan’s family. See the change of thinking and production method at the workshop. Most manual phases were replaced by modern machines. With 25 official employees, Nhan’s workshop produces 1700-1800 pairs of sandals/day.
Discover how there are three out of four villages in the commune developing the craft. About 300 households engage in making leather and footwear and 35 households supply material for the whole commune. The craft provides jobs for more than 2,000 employees.
Learn about the leather and footwear craft village that has been around since the French colonial period. As owner of a workshop making boat-like shoes in Hai Phong, Nguyen Luong Mac turned to making shoes. He gave the skill and advice of making shoes to the next generations. The craft has been preserved and continues developing.
Continue your journey through the picturesque countryside to Duc Wharf. Board a small boat for a scenic trip up Yen Stream to Thien Tru Pagoda. Glide past rice fields, temples, and lush greenery, with the option to stop and visit some of these temples along the way.
Next, trek up (or take a cable car) to the Perfume Pagoda, located at the top of a mountain. Enjoy the spectacular landscape and learn about Vietnamese Buddhist traditions.
Return to Thien Tru Quay to explore more beautiful sculptures, take photos, and worship. Finally, board the boat back to the wharf and return to your hotel in Hanoi, bringing back memories of traditional culture and historical highlights of the Buddhist religion.

Meet a family who specializes in dyeing incense sticks and take in the colorful bundles of incense.
