Description

Learn about the techniques, impact, and grit during this horrific time, while gaining a deeper understanding of the forces that shaped this beautiful country. You can also witness colonial architecture on this truly immersive trip.
Your private English-speaking guide will be waiting for you at your port to greet you with a welcome sign and a big smile. You can get comfortable in your air-conditioned transport as you make your way to your first stop, the impressive labyrinth of war tunnels also known as the Cu Chi Tunnels. Here you can experience how Viet Cong fighters used ingenious techniques to remain safe during the war, and even opt to walk through the tunnels yourself to witness the impressive network, including the secret underground kitchen. The tunnels are a fascinating insight into the creative spirit and endurance of the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.

Prior to returning to the busy streets of Saigon, we will make a stop at a rubber plantation to learn about the history of rubber tree cultivation in Vietnam. Your tour guide will provide insights into the local people’s daily work on the plantation, including their rubber tapping, collection, and production techniques. Vietnam is the third-biggest producer of natural rubber in the world, and this stop allows you the emblematic experience of witnessing the removal of latex from inside a rubber tree. Then, we will drive to HCMC for a tasty, simple lunch (included) such as famous Pho or Banh Mi to fuel up before seeing the city highlights.

Next on your agenda will be the War Remnants Museum. This museum is a powerful reminder of the horrors of war and the impact it can have on an entire nation. You will have access to unique footage of the war from a different perspective, being able to discover the turbulence and destruction the Vietnamese suffered and subsequently overcame. Although some scenes are upsetting, this museum offers a fantastic insight into the perseverance and determination of the Vietnamese. You will be guaranteed to leave with a newfound appreciation of this stunning and storied country.

After the war museum, you will embark on a city tour. The French colonial architecture in Ho Chi Minh is a powerful reminder of the turbulent history of this beautiful country. You can follow your English-speaking guide and explore stunning landmarks such as the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the General Post Office, the Opera House, City Hall, and the former CIA Headquarters building. Following this city tour, you will be comfortable returned to your ship terminal, marking the end of your tour.
