Learn the art of wheel throwing in a hands-on workshop in Gorizia. Work with a master potter, create your own unique piece, and discover how to center the clay and control its movement.
Step into the studio at Asperitas in Gorizia for an intensive 3-hour pottery wheel workshop led by a master potter whose work has been shown in international exhibitions.
This is a fully practical session—no watching from the sidelines—designed for beginners and for anyone who wants to refine their technique with a professional working method.In the first hour, you’ll focus on wheel throwing fundamentals.
Learn how to prepare and center the clay, control speed and pressure, and guide a soft lump into your first form. Your instructor will demonstrate each movement and then coach you individually as you repeat the steps at your own wheel.
During the second hour, you’ll move into trimming and refining. You’ll work on shaping and balancing the piece once it reaches the right consistency, improving proportions and details while learning how to correct common mistakes and achieve cleaner lines.
In the final hour, you’ll decorate your work using underglaze colors, experimenting with surfaces, textures, and simple design choices that give your piece a personal character.
Your creation will then be glazed and fired twice (at 980°C and 1,020°C) to achieve a durable, glass-like finish. Leave with practical skills, a clear understanding of the core stages of wheel making, and the satisfaction of creating something with your own hands.
Shipping isn’t included, but it can be arranged and paid for on site after the workshop.
