Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa – Jinka (Baco) – Turmi
Meet your guide at Jinka (Baco) Airport and drive 130 km (about 2.5 hours) to Turmi, home of the Hamar people. If your visit falls on a market day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday), explore one of the colorful tribal markets in Jinka, Kako, Keyafer, Alduba, or Turmi. Along the way, visit a Banna village and meet a small community of Mursi people near Keyafer. If available, witness the Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony or the Evangadi cultural dance.
Overnight: Buska Lodge, Turmi
Day 2: Turmi – Karo – Turmi
Drive to the Karo village on the banks of the Omo River. The Karo are renowned for their striking body and face painting using natural pigments. Return to Turmi for lunch and, on market days, visit the local tribal market. Later, explore a Hamar village. Depending on availability, attend the Bull Jumping Ceremony or the Evangadi dance.
Overnight: Buska Lodge, Turmi
Day 3: Turmi – Omorate – Turmi
After breakfast, drive to Omorate and cross the Omo River by traditional dugout canoe to visit the Dassanech people. Learn about their unique culture and daily life before returning to Turmi for lunch. On market days, explore the local market. The Hamar Bull Jumping Ceremony may also be available.
Overnight: Buska Lodge, Turmi
Day 4: Turmi – Arbore – Jinka
Drive to Jinka, stopping to visit the Arbore people, a Cushitic-speaking pastoral community living near Lake Stephanie. Continue to Jinka to visit an Ari village and learn about their farming traditions and culture.
Overnight: Nasa Hotel, Jinka
Day 5: Jinka – Mursi Village – Fly to Addis Ababa
Drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people, famous for their traditional clay lip plates and scarification. After the visit, return to Jinka Airport for your afternoon flight to Addis Ababa, concluding your Omo Valley cultural journey.
