This 5-day journey takes you through Ethiopia’s most iconic historical sites in the northern highlands. Explore the ancient obelisks of Axum, the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, the castles of Gondar, and the island monasteries of Lake Tana in Bahir Dar. With a blend of history, architecture, and spirituality, this tour offers a deep insight into Ethiopia’s fascinating past and living traditions.

Day 1: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar (Flight)
Fly to Bahir Dar on the shores of Lake Tana. Take a boat trip to visit 14th-century island monasteries with beautiful murals. In the afternoon, drive to the Blue Nile Falls for a scenic hike and cultural encounters with local communities. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 2: Bahir Dar – Gondar (Drive, 180 km)
Morning drive to Gondar, the “Camelot of Africa.” Visit the UNESCO-listed Royal Enclosure with its 17th-century castles, Debre Berhan Selassie Church with its angelic ceiling frescoes, and the Fasilides Bath. Overnight in Gondar.

Day 3: Gondar – Axum (Flight)
Fly to Axum, Ethiopia’s oldest city and spiritual heart. Explore the ancient stelae field with its towering obelisks, visit the Church of St. Mary of Zion (said to house the Ark of the Covenant), and see archaeological sites tracing back to the Axumite Empire. Overnight in Axum.

Day 4: Axum – Lalibela (Flight)
Fly to Lalibela, home to Ethiopia’s world-famous rock-hewn churches. Visit the first group of churches, including the iconic St. George’s Church, carved deep into the earth. Experience the spiritual atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 5: Lalibela – Addis Ababa (Flight & Departure)
In the morning, explore the second group of rock-hewn churches and local markets. Fly back to Addis Ababa in the afternoon. Enjoy a farewell cultural dinner before transfer to the airport for your international departure.
